Bike, Walk and Roll TO SCHOOL!
Calling all bikers, scooters, and walkers! Let's get your helmets on and sneakers tied and join the Thoreau Bike, Walk, Roll to School Day on Friday, October 6th! Let's make this a fun kid-powered way to get to school. Thoreau had the most number of bikes counted in Concord last spring, can we keep our title? Prizes are available for all who participate!
This year's event is ONE WAY ONLY - to school (with the exception of the Middlesex crew)! You must either collect your child's equipment from school or accompany them home.
If your child's dismissal plan changes from their communicated plan, please contact the main office and your teacher to update.
Safety reminder: Massachusetts law requires all participants who bike, scoot, rollerblade or skateboard to wear a helmet!
There are several ways to go:
-
Families can meet at the Bruce Freeman Trail (BFRT) parking lot on Commonwealth Ave at 8:30am to join the police-escorted "bike train" to Thoreau.
-
Geoff McCarthy, a Middlesex parent, will lead a "bike train" departing from the Middlesex School. The route includes stops along Lowell Rd/Barrett’s Mill/Strawberry Hill with police assisting with crossing Rt. 2.
-
Find your own kid-powered route that works best for your family!
